In 2010 I was awarded Gold for Environmental Design in the Australia-wide Southern Cross Package Design Competition for tertiary students. I was also awarded two commendations for two other categories.
Awards received:
Gold: Environmental Design
Commendation: Judges Rationale
Commendation: Society, Packaging and Consumers Category
The Environmental Design Award was for the student that best addressed and discussed the environmental aspects of their entry including materials used, production considerations, disposal and/or alternate use/s, distribution and logistics of the pack (ie. pallet size vs transport movements). In addition, explanation of how the products packaging will impact the environment beyond recycling.
The Judges Rationale Award was for the student that best produced excellence in research, documentation and presentation of their rationale. The winner met all mandatory requirements set in their brief and exceeded expectations.
The Society, Packaging and Consumers Award criteria was to identify a packaging issue and solution for today’s consumers. The design needed to be sustainable, economically viable, socially responsible and one that protects and enhances the environment.
